Beef Recall Expands At Smith's Stores

A half-million-pound recall of Nebraska Beef products has prompted a major grocery chain to broaden an earlier callback due to E-coli contamination. Kroger, which owns Smith's Food & Drug in Southern Nevada, has expanded its recall to include all products from Nebraska Beef that are either wrapped in clear plastic or bought from an in-store service counter. Products sold under the Private Selection Natural name are also included in the latest recall. The products involve meat with sell-by dates that range from May 21st to July 3rd. Customers are asked to return the beef to their nearest Smith's store for a refund or replacement. The recall does not include ground beef sold in sealed tubes, or frozen ground beef patties.
