You can sleep a little later this Sunday in Las Vegas. Residents will gain an extra hour Sunday as Daylight Saving Time ends. Most states will turn their clocks back an hour at 2 a.m. local time. Benjamin Franklin is credited with proposing the idea of daylight savings time in 1784 as a way to take advantage of sunlight at different times of the year. In 2005, the U.S. extended daylight savings time four weeks longer thanks to the passage of the Energy Policy Act of 2005. Now it always starts the second Sunday in March and ends the first Sunday in November.
