One man is dead after a late-night officer-involved shooting in the northeast valley. It happened around midnight Sunday at the Spring Pointe apartments near Walnut and Cheyenne. Police say two officers were on a routine patrol of the complex, when they approached a group. One of the men in the group started running away. The officers chased the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Anthony Davis. When they caught him, a struggle ensued. Police say Davis pulled out a gun and fired a shot, but didn't hit anyone. One of the officers then fired at Davis, killing him. Both officers are now on paid leave, pending an investigation. But Davis's family claims he didn't own a gun and couldn't have fired one anyway because he recently suffered a separated shoulder. This is Metro's sixth officer-involved shooting this year.
