"Heartbreaking" and "disturbing" were the words Governor Jim Gibbons used to describe the latest revelations in the hepatitis scare. In a statement, the governor said his thoughts and prayers are with those who may have been infected with hepatitis C due to alleged unsafe medical practices at the "Endoscopy Center of Southern Nevada." Gibbons says the latest finding of 77 new cases of hepatitis possibly linked to the clinic shows the need for "swift and strong action" by the state Board of Medical Examiners. Gibbons has appointed three temporary members of the panel, who will sit in for permanent members who have ties to the clinic. The governor says Nevadans need to "have confidence in their health care system," so they can get the treatment they need.
