Halverson Loses District Court Race

Suspended District Court Judge Elizabeth Halverson won't be back on the bench next year. Voters gave the embattled judge just ten percent of the vote in Tuesday's primary election, knocking her out of the competition. Stefany Miley and Jason Landess will battle for the Department 23 bench in November. Halverson is accused of judicial misconduct such as falling asleep on the bench, having improper contact with jurors, and creating a hostile work environment for courthouse employees. She has denied the allegations. Halverson has continued to collect her 130-thousand-dollar a year salary since being suspended last July. The state Judicial Discipline Commission's hearings on Halverson resume Thursday.
