Harrah's Entertainment is the latest casino firm to report lower revenues. The Las Vegas-based company says it lost nearly $188 million in the first quarter, compared to a profit of about $186 million a year earlier. In addition to the slowing economy, the company also blames the losses on paying off debt early and the costs of taking the company private. Despite the bad news, Harrah's says it's moving forward with several projects, including a one-billion-dollar expansion of Caesars Palace. Tha company is also expanding several other properties, including Harrah's Atlantic City and the Horseshoe in Hammond, Indiana.
