A federal judge has postponed a new trial for personal injury lawyer Noel Gage. Judge Justin Quackenbush had said he would drop the charges against Gage, if the government did not grant immunity to key witness Mark Kabins. Prosecutors have refused to grant immunity for Kabins, but the charges against Gage remain in effect. The judge says a new retrial date will be set in the near future. Last month, Quackenbush declared a mistrial after a jury could not return a verdict. Gage is accused of conspiring with consultant Howard Awand and local doctors to inflate the value of personal injury settlements, and obtained "false and misleading" testimony from the doctors in exchange for a portion of the settlement money. Awand goes on trial in September.
