Metro Police are investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting in the east valley. It happened Tuesday afternoon at an apartment complex on Vegas Valley near Nellis. Officers responded to a report of a suspect with a knife to find a teenage boy reportedly struggling with his mother outside an apartment. Police say they shot and killed the suspect as he had his arm around his mother's neck while threatening her with the knife. Neighbors and friends have identified the boy as 15-year-old Tanner Chamberlain, a junior at Chaparral High School. The officer who fired the deadly shot has been placed on paid administrative leave, pending a coroner's inquest.
