The off-duty Metro Police officer who was fatally shot at his North Las Vegas home has been identified as 30-year-old Trevor Nettleton. It happened shortly after midnight at the home on Emerald Stone Avenue, near 5th Street and Washburn. Police say Nettleton was confronted in his garage by multiple suspects in an apparent robbery attempt. Gunfire was exchanged, and the officer was pronounced dead shortly after emergency crews arrived. Police say Nettleton was not in his uniform. At a news conference this afternoon, North Las Vegas Police confirmed that two suspects are now in custody. Twenty-year-old Saul Williams Jr. is being held at the North Las Vegas Detention Center, and 18-year-old Prentice Marshall is at UMC with non life-threatening injuries. Marshall will be booked upon his release from the hospital. Both will be charged with murder with a deadly weapon, along with other potential charges related to the incident. Police say the investigation is ongoing, and have not ruled out further arrests.
Trever Nettleton was raised in Yakima, Washington before joining the Marine Corps, where he served for nine-and-a-half years. He had been with Metro for three years. Nettleton is survived by a wife and two young children.
