Mistrial Sought For Death Row Inmate

A mistrial is being sought by the attorney for death row inmate James Walker. Deputy special public defender JoNell Thomas told the Nevada Supreme Court that a mistrial should have been granted in Las Vegas when the only black juror was questioned by the prosecution about race issues. However, Clark County chief deputy district attorney Steven Owens denies misconduct in the questioning. Walker was convicted of stabbing to death Christine Anziano as she left a grocery store near Lamb and Bonanza in August of 2003. The court will issue its ruling on the matter later.
