NDOT Approves Freeway Toll Lanes

The state Transportation Department is backing a plan to experiment with toll lanes on Las Vegas freeways. The NDOT board approved a plan for a private company to turn two existing carpool lanes of freeway into toll lanes. The plan would affect U.S. 95 from Ann Road to the Spaghetti Bowl, and I-15 from the Southern 215 Beltway to the 95 interchange. It would include new flyover lanes to eliminate the traffic congestion for on and off ramps. The toll road project still must be approved by the 2009 Legislature.
