The Southern Nevada Health District says a ninth hepatitis C case has been linked to a now-closed clinic center of the valley's hepatitis cluster. Spokeswoman Jennifer Sizemore says the unidentified patient was treated at the Endoscopy Center of Southern Nevada, and did not become ill within the six-month incubation period. Officials believe the patient was treated on one of two dates when nurse anesthetists allegedly contaminated single-dose medicine vials with reused syringes. The latest case is being listed as chronic hepatitis C, not the acute form of the disease. It brings to nine the number of hepatitis C cases linked to alleged unsafe practices at the now-closed Endoscopy Center on Shadow Lane. Another 50-thousand patients have been urged to get tested for hepatitis and HIV.
