Nye County District Attorney Robert Beckett is facing DUI charges after two separate car crashes in California last weekend. Officers say the 49-year-old Beckett was involved in a rollover accident Sunday afternoon that totaled his county-issued Ford Expedition on California's Route 127, south of Shoshone. Several hours later, after Beckett returned home to Pahrump and went out in his family's van, he was involved in a second crash just 35 miles south of the first accident scene. The California Highway Patrol says Beckett failed a blood alcohol test and was booked and released for drunken driving. So far, there's been no comment from Nye County officials. Beckett has been Nye County's DA since 1994, and is currently running for district judge.
