Officials Investigate Apartment Fire

Fire investigators are still investigating a suspicious fire at an abandoned apartment building near downtown. City fire department spokesman Tim Szymanski says it broke out Saturday night on Santa Paula Drive, near Las Vegas Boulevard North and St. Louis Avenue. The fire in the two-story building was put out in minutes and investigators think it started in the upstairs bedroom. According to neighbors, the building was vacated last month by city officials due to poor living conditions. Damage has been estimated at 100-thousand dollars and there were no injuries.
