Law enforcement officials have launched a new program to fight gun violence among young adults. The Project Safe Neighborhoods Task Force will center on armed teens and young adults who hang around school campuses. Officials hope the effort will cut down on gun-related crimes among juveniles, especially at schools and nearby neighborhoods. The program comes in the wake of shootings near schools, including a bus stop shooting that left six people wounded, and a drive-by shooting that claimed the life of a 15-year-old. Project Safe Neighborhoods will be funded with a 300 thousand dollar grant from the U.S. Attorney's Office.
