Rising Unemployment Expected

Unemployment numbers in the Silver State are skyrocketing and they are expected to get much worse in the coming months. The Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation says unemployment is up to seven-point-six percent. It's estimated unemployment will reach eight-point-six percent by next summer. Currently, 105-thousand Nevadans are jobless and filing for unemployment. While more people than ever need to file claims, getting through to the call center to file is more difficult, with average telephone wait times of one hour. Ironically, the department has had to hire more people to keep up with the 16-hundred phone calls they receive a day. Some employees are working overtime to meet the demand. If you don't have the patience to sit on the phone, you can file online at www.expressclaim.org. For more information, call (702) 486-0350 or (888) 890-8211.
