The Clark County School Board has voted to seek federal funds for random drug testing at seven local high schools. At Thursday's meeting, board members approved the application for $450,000 in grants from the Department of Education. Back in January, Green Valley High School became the first local campus to begin random drug testing for all student athletes, as well as other students whose parents request it. The Green Valley program is funded with fees and private donations. Other high schools that would take part in the program are Centennial, Del Sol, Desert Pines, Durango, Eldorado, Foothill and Mojave. If the funding comes through, the program could begin as early as January.
