An official with the Nevada Board of Medical Examiners says the patient who fatally shot Dr. Edna Makabenta at her West Charleston Boulevard office had filed a medical complaint against her earlier this month. Homicide Lieutenant Lew Roberts says the grievance filed by 80-year-old Eliseo Santos is a factor in trying to determine a motive in the case but can't be definitively connected to it. The board's executive director Louis Ling says that the complaint, which included eight other doctors, is under investigation. Santos died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
