Grand Jury transcripts in the attempted murder case of Judge Elizabeth Halverson were released Monday. The judge testified she and her husband had been talking about dinner when her husband, Ed, came into the room with what she called "a large frying pan." The judge says her husband gave her a "very wicked, very nasty" smile, seemed to be "gleeful," and then, the judge says, "he takes the frying pan and he bashes me in the head." The District Court Judge says she was "soaking in blood" when her husband came back into the room and hit her several more times. The judge then managed to secretly call 911, but tried to keep her husband calm by talking about other things. Elizabeth Halverson also told jurors she was afraid she was "going to die" if emergency help did not arrive. She spent two weeks in the hospital with scalp wounds that required 100 staples. Ed Halverson is in the Clark County Detention Center on $113,000 bail. Judge Halverson is currently suspended with pay from her 130-thousand dollars per year position, while the Nevada Judicial Commission considers a judicial misconduct case against her. She's accused of falling asleep in court, having improper communication with jurors, and mistreating her staff. Elizabeth Halverson was defeated in her re-election bid this year, finishing third in August's primary.
