A winter storm is bringing rain and snow to Southern Nevada today. The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the region, as precipitation began falling around the valley this morning. Snow or a rain-snow mix fell in many areas, including the west side of the valley and downtown Las Vegas, although few accumulations were reported. Measurable snow did fall in parts of Summerlin and the northwest valley, and several inches blanketed Mt. Charleston and other mountain areas surrounding the valley. The wet and slick conditions, along with poor visibility, resulted in a mess on valley roads, with several slowdowns and fender benders. There were also scattered power outages reported around Las Vegas. The wet and cold conditions are expected to remain in Southern Nevada for a couple more days.
