Nye DA Pleads Not Guilty To Drunk Driving

Nye County District Attorney Robert Beckett has pleaded not guilty to a charge of drunken driving in California. The "Review-Journal" says the 49-year-old Beckett entered the plea Tuesday in a Barstow courtroom. A pre-trial hearing is set for October 3rd. Authorities say in June, Beckett was involved in a rollover accident that totaled his county-issued SUV on California's Route 127. But the California Highway Patrol says several hours later, Beckett returned home to Pahrump, drove his family's van, and became involved in a second crash just 35 miles south of the first accident scene. Beckett failed a blood alcohol test and was booked and released for drunken driving. Last month, lost his bid to replace a district judge, coming in third among three candidates.
