Spouse Of Embattled Judge Arrested

Suspended Clark County District Court Judge Elizabeth Halverson remains hospitalized, while her husband is being held on attempted murder and domestic violence charges. Late Thursday night, police responded to a 911 call from a woman who claimed her husband was going to beat her to death. When officers arrived at the home on Oxnard Circle, near US 95 and Harmon, they found Judge Halverson with injuries to her face, chest, and upper harm. She told police her husband beat her with a frying pan. The judge underwent surgery at Sunrise Hospital this morning. Police arrested 49-year-old Edward Halverson on counts of attempted murder, battery with a deadly weapon, and battery with substantial bodily harm. Elizabeth Halverson was defeated for re-election this year, finishing third in last month's primary. The state Judicial Discipline Commission is now deciding allegations of judicial misconduct against her. She could removed from the bench permanently, or allowed to serve out the remainder of her term.
