UMC Uses Race to Promote Child Car Safety

A local hospital is using this weekend's Vegas Grand Prix auto race to raise awareness about child car safety. Three-time Champ Car World Series Champion Sebastien Bourdais was on hand at UMC this morning for a special event promoting proper use of child car seats. Bourdais used his four-month-old daugher Emma to demonstrate car seat safety. In addition, CARA Charities, which oversees the "Baby Buckle Up" campaign, presented a check for $2,500 to UMC's Family Resource Center for the purchase of car seats for families in need. Shelly Cochran, a so-called "Car Seat Technician" from UMC, said the Champ Car partnership makes sense "since car seats were modeled after the five-point restraint system used by race car drivers."
