Searchlight Residents Voice Concerns



Residents of Searchlight voiced their concerns yesterday about putting up a wind farm near the community. During the town hall meeting with County Commissioner Steve Sisolak, issues were raised about driving away tourists, damaging wildlife and wiping out views of the surrounding landscape. Duke Energy is proposing putting up large wind turbines on public land around the town. Sisolak said the county's input is limited because the land is owned by the federal government. He promised to set up a meeting with representatives of Duke, the BLM and Senator Harry Reid's office.
