Legendary Las Vegas jazz performer Sam Butera has died at age 81. The saxophonist was the long-time musical partner of another big name in Las Vegas lore, the late Louis Prima. Family members say Butera died yesterday morning at Sunrise Hospital, where he'd been since January suffering from Alzheimer's Disease. Butera became part of Prima's band in 1954 and, along with singer Keely Smith, became one of the most popular acts in Las Vegas during that era. The music of Prima and Butera resurfaces occasionally. A Gap commercial in the '90s featured the hit "Jump, Jive and Wail."
