Police Identify Officer Who Shot Suspect



Metro Police have released the idenitity of the officer who shot and killed a suspect in a northwest valley neighborhood earlier this week. Thirty-year-old Officer Jeremy Hendricks shot the suspect during a confrontation Wednesday afternoon on Helen Street, near Alexander and Rancho. Police say Hendricks and another officer went to arrest the suspect on charges of sexual assault of a minor and domestic battery, when the suspect resisted and ran away. After a short chase, police reportedly Tasered the suspect, but he continued to resist, leading to a physical altercation in which Hendricks opened fire. Hendricks has been with Metro since 1998 and is assigned to the Crimes Against Youth and Family Section.
