Man Shot by Police Identified

The coroner's office has identified the man who was shot and killed by a Metro Police officer last week. Police say 32-year-old John Paul Hambleton was gunned down during a physical altercation with officers after he tried to evade them in a neighborhood near Alexander and Jones. The officers reportedly told Hambleton he was going to be arrested on sexual assault charges when he took off on foot, leading to the confrontation. Police have identified the officer who shot Hambleton as 30-year-old Jeremy Hendricks. Hendricks remains on paid leave pending an investigation of the incident.
