Speed Blamed for Fatal Motorcycle Crash

A 24-year-old man was killed in a single motorcycle crash on a local street early this morning. It happened around 12:40 a.m. on Oakey near Westwind Road. Police say the man was going westbound down Oakey at high speed, when he lost control and slammed his motorcycle into a light pole, breaking the pole off at the base, before hitting a brick wall. The rider was thrown from the bike and pronounced dead at the scene. Police believe excessive speed was the main factor in the crash. It's the valley's fifth fatal motorcycle accident in the past week.
