Gaming Revenues Drop Again

Nevada gaming revenues continue a freefall that's lasted nearly a year-and-a-half. According to new figures from the state Gaming Control Board, casino revenues were down by 8.3% in May to just over $889 million. That's the 17th straight month of declines, but it is the lowest monthy drop since a 5.4% fall last September. On the Las Vegas Strip, gaming revenues in May were down by 6.4% from a year ago. Total taxes collected from gaming continue to fall as well, down by nearly 20% in May compared with the same month last year.
