Breathing in Las Vegas is easier than it is in other big cities in the country. The Las Vegas-Paradise area is ranked as the least toxic city on the Forbes list of the 40 most toxic cities. Cities on the list are ranked based on the number of superfund sites in the principal city, the number of facilities releasing toxic chemicals, pounds of toxic chemicals released in the area and the 2007 air-quality ranking of the city. The New York-Northern New Jersey-Long Island, New York/Pennsylvania/New Jersey metro area were highest on the list with the New York area having two superfund sites, 452 facilities which released 9,897,930 pounds of chemicals into the area.
