County Targets Neglectful Homeowners

Clark County property owners who allow their front yards to be littered with broken-down vehicles, old appliances and other trash could face stiffer fines. The County Commission will vote November 17th on an amendment to increase public nuisance fines to $1,000 a day for those who fail to clean up such eyesores after a 15-day notice. The current fine ranges from $50-$200 a day to a maximum of $10,000. County code enforcement chief Joe Boteilho says the stiffer penalties would target mainly owner-occupied dwellings.
