LV Wash Could Become National Park

The Clark County Commission approved a resolution today to designate the Upper Las Vegas Wash as a national park. The area north of the 215 Beltway and east of the 95 in the far northwest valley has been a gold mine for paleontologists, who have recovered thousands of fossils there from ancient Ice Age mammals. The Las Vegas and North Las Vegas City Councils are scheduled to vote on similar resolutions this week.
