Services Scheduled for Fallen Officers

Funeral services for a 25-year Metro Police corrections officer will be held Saturday. Officer Daniel Leach was killed over the weekend in a traffic collision on U.S. 95 near Searchlight. Leach, of Boulder City, was driving a prisoner transport vehicle from the Clark County Detention Center to the Tucker Holding Facility in Laughlin when he crashed into the second of two trailers on a dump truck.  Services for the 49-year-old officer will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Shrine of the Most Holy Redeemer, on 55 East Reno Avenue. Internment will follow in Boulder City.

Meanwhile, the Metro officer who was murdered at his home last week will be laid to rest on Wednesday. Visitation services for Officer Trevor Nettleton will be held today from 3-7 p.m. at Palm Mortuary on North Jones, with his funeral mass tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church. Nettleton was killed when several suspects broke into his garage near Donna and Emerald in North Las Vegas early last Thursday morning.

Governor Jim Gibbons has ordered all flags at the Capitol and state buildings to fly at half-staff tomorrow and on Saturday in honor of fallen Officers Nettleton and Leach.
