The legendary Sahara hotel is under new ownership today. Los Angeles-based SBE Entertainment and its partner, Stockbridge Real Estate Funds, has completed its nearly 400 million dollar purchase of the Strip resort. The new owners say they have a "definitive timeline" to develop the 55-year-old hotel and casino. Plans include upscale restaurants, entertainment and gaming. Last week. state gaming regulators approved the "Navegante" management group to manage the casino until SBE can get its own gaming license. SBE purchased the Sahara from the family of the late casino executive Bill Bennett. The hotel has about 14-hundred employees.
